Recommended tools: Painters tape, pencil, level, included wiper tool, utility knife, 6 in. or larger joint knife

Surface Preparation

  1. Clean and Smooth: Ensure your wall is clean, smooth, and dry. Wall murals won't hide textures, holes, nails, or other markings. We recommend filling any holes and sanding any imperfections, as they will show through your mural once installed.
  2. Moisture Check: Identify and fix any moisture sources. Walls must be completely dry and have less than 4% residual moisture (use a moisture meter). If unsure, consult a professional.
  3. Mold and Mildew: Remove all mold and mildew. Treat walls with bleach, Lysol, or approved mildew-inhibiting products.
  4. Priming: Prime surfaces with a universal, white-pigmented, mold-inhibiting wallcovering primer. For perforated wallcovering, use a permeable primer like Roman ECO-988 with matching adhesive.
  5. New Drywall: Apply a coat of wallcovering primer that dries to a solid color to conceal drywall joints.
  6. Marking: Use only a lead pencil for marking walls and back of wallcovering; avoid ballpoint or marking pens as they will bleed through.
  7. Temperature: Maintain a temperature above 65º F in the installation and storage areas for at least 48 hours before installation.

Unpack and unroll: Unpack and unroll the panels of your wall mural. Lay them out in order from left to right, with panel 1 being the left-most panel.

Installation Prep

  1. Measure the width of panel 1.
  2. Within 2 feet of the top of your wall, mark a vertical guideline that is approximately 1.5 inches shorter than the width you measured on panel 1.
  3. Mark a 2nd vertical guideline halfway down the wall, and a 3rd guideline near the bottom of your wall.
  4. Use your level to extend these guidelines so they are 6”-8” long

Adhesive Application

  1. Adhesive Type: Use premium quality, heavy-duty clear premixed adhesive with a mildew inhibitor. This is included with your order.
  2. Application: Apply an even coat of paste over the entire back of the wallcovering, ensuring edges are well-pasted. Let the material  for ten minutes.

Applying Wallcovering to Wall Surface

  1. Adhesive Application: Apply adhesive to the back with a pasting machine or paint roller. Fold and book the material for ten minutes.
  2. Align and Apply: Start with the first strip. Align the top corner left and edge.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Each panel will overlap the panel to it’s left by 1 inch to ensure a seamless fit
  3. Smoothing: Use the included smoothing tool to smooth the panel from the top, pushing air pockets out to the edges for a flush fit.
  4. Cleaning: Wash off excess paste with a cellulose sponge, rinse frequently, and blot dry with a clean cloth.
  5. Seams: Place the second strip next to the first (with 1 inch overlap). Clean any adhesive on vinyl immediately.
  6. Repeat: Align each subsequent strip edge-to-edge and repeat the smoothing process.

Post-Installation

  1. Monitor Moisture: Check for moisture or vapor infiltration after installation and address promptly to prevent mold/mildew growth.
  2. Inspection: After installing three panels, check for color uniformity and pattern match. Report any issues to the supplier immediately.

If your wall mural is wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling, you may have excess material around the edges of the wall mural.

Removing excess material:

  1. Hold your joint knife against the edge of the mural and remove the excess material with your utility knife
  2. Once cut, the excess material; should pull away from the wall easily.
